Hello Ladies, I wanted to give you guys the lactation cookie recipe I found when pregnant with YDS a couple of years ago. These are so good you'll have to hide them from your family! I told my kids they would grow breasts and make milk if they ate them...lol! Worth trying now...you won't be able to stick to the four a day recommendation! Feel free to share this with friends!

Lactation Boosting Cookies

Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies... if using for lactation eat four a day.™

Ingredients :

* 1 cup butter
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water

* 1 cup creamy peanut butter

* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)

Directions:

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) butter,peanut butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the butter mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to butter mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies. I like to leave them a little soft!

Serves: 6 dozen cookies

Preparation time: 15 minutes

*can be found at any local health food store.
*NOTE* IT MUST BE BREWERS YEAST, NO SUBSTITUTIONS.

    I made these all the time with my youngest when my supply would go down a little! They are delicious-and did work to help get your milk up too!

    Huh, I've never seen a lactation cookie recipe with peanut butter in it...wonder why that recipe adds it.

    Can you taste the brewers yeast? That's my only concern with lactation cookies.... And I don't want to go buy brewers yeast if I won't like it in the cookies. lol, I'm worse then my kids when it comes to being picky.

    Sweet. I totally added this to my "baby tips" folder. I can't imagine the Brewer's Yeast, just because it's so savory (I add it to my kids' macaroni and cheese!), but I imagine that much peanut butter would camouflage anything. Thanks so much!

    Actually the brewers yeast is why the peanut butter is in there plus protein and it makes the cookies more moist and less crumbly... I tried it without...umm yuk! I made some today for the kids and I to check out and see if it was as good as I remember...oh they are so yummy... trying not to eat them all lol!

    You can find flaxseed meal in the baking area of your grocery store or if not there a health food store will have it for sure. It is ground up flax seed and looks a little strange. You have to put in the water and it looks kind of like soggy shredded wheat if that helps! I use it in making bread too!

    This recipe didn't have peanut butter in it to begin with. Wonder how it would taste with peanut butter in it.

    Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Cookies

    1 c butter
    1 c sugar
    1 c brown sugar
    4 tbsp water
    2 tbsp flaxseed
    meal
    2 large eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
    2 c flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp
    salt
    3 c oats (thick cut is better)
    1 c or more chocolate chips (or
    raisins)
    2 tbsp Brewer's yeast (be generous)

    Preheat oven to 375. Mix together flaxseed meal and water and set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to butter mixture.

    Beat until blended. Sift dry ingredients together, except oats and chips. Add to butter mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop onto a baking sheet and bake 8-12 minutes.

    6 dozen cookies.

    Peanut butter makes it super yummy.. if you use raisinsinstead of chocolate chips and peanut butter use lots of cinnamon...I never liked it that...still tasted the yeast and they were on the dry side...yuk...some people like it but I like the other version.
